Greenhope demonstrated its commitment to sustainable development at the Indonesia Youth Sustainability Forum (IYSF) 2024, held on September 7, 2024, at the Sanctuary Auditorium, Menara Kuningan. The forum served as an important platform to educate and inspire Indonesia's youth on practices and innovations in the sustainability sector.

CEO of Greenhope, Tommy Tjiptadjaja, was a keynote speaker in a panel discussing "Human Capital, Technology & Innovation," alongside Andhika Sudarman, CEO of Dealls, and Utari Octavianty, Chief Sustainability Officer of Aruna, moderated by Ezra Mandira from Bakrie University. The panelists shared insights on enhancing human capital and leveraging technology for sustainable practices.

The forum opened with an inspiring address from Chelsea Islan, SDG Mover of UNDP Indonesia, who motivated participants to engage in sustainability efforts. This was followed by talks from Gita Wirjawan, founder of Ancora Group, and Anindya Novyan Bakrie, founder of Bakrie Center Foundation, who shared their perspectives and experiences in sustainability and social impact.

Tommy Tjiptadjaja emphasized the importance of recruiting individuals who align with Greenhope's values, particularly the Tri Hita Karana philosophy, which views the environment as an integral part of human identity. He stressed that perseverance and a disruptive mindset are more crucial than mere experience in fostering innovation. Greenhope is committed to seeking individuals who are not only experienced but also willing to experiment and explore within the company.

Greenhope has made significant progress with its innovative technology, including the use of Ecoplas, a bio-based resin derived from cassava starch sourced from local farmers. He highlighted Greenhope's commitment to reducing plastic use, recycling materials, and employing biodegradable alternatives. This technology not only addresses environmental issues but also strengthens local supply chains, extending even to markets in Japan.

Greenhope’s initiatives aim to empower cassava farmers by enhancing their productivity and sustainable practices. Tommy concluded the session with the message that sustainability efforts are not just about environmental preservation but also about protecting humanity. He urged Indonesia's youth to adopt a deep environmental consciousness similar to that seen in Europe.

The Indonesia Youth Sustainability Forum 2024 successfully showcased how innovative technology and human capital development can drive sustainable practices. Greenhope's participation exemplifies how a comprehensive approach to ESG—combining strong values, cutting-edge technology, and community impact—can inspire and lead the way toward a more sustainable future.

Tommy Tjiptadjaja also addressed the complexities of plastic recycling as a form of end-of-life plastic management. While recycling remains a valuable step in reducing waste, he noted that it is insufficient to tackle the intricate problems associated with waste and its environmental impact. Biodegradable plastic technology complements the plastic lifecycle by making materials easier to break down naturally by microbes, allowing them to return to nature.
